Three Key Facts About the International Eucharistic Congress 2024
The 53rd International Eucharistic Congress will be held in Quito from September 8 to 15, 2024.

This event is one of the most important of the Catholic Church and is held every 4 years and returns to Latin America after 20 years.

1. A World Fellowship Event

The theme of the congress is. "Fraternity to heal the world"inspired by the biblical passage. "You are all brothers" (Mt. 23:8). (Mt. 23:8). This theme seeks to reflect on the power of the Eucharist to unite and heal a world divided by conflict and violence. Quito was chosen by Pope Francis to host the event, coinciding with the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the consecration of Ecuador to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The congress will include a series of Eucharistic and cultural activities. One of the highlights will be the Masses in different languages on Thursday, September 12, celebrated in several churches in the Historic Center of Quito. These masses will be celebrated in Spanish, English, German, Italian, Portuguese and Latin, among others, and will be attended by bishops and cardinals from different parts of the world.

3. A Procession Not to Be Missed From San Francisco to the Basilica of the National Vow

The International Eucharistic Congress 2024 will feature a majestic religious procession religious procession which will be one of the most emotional and symbolic moments of the event. This procession, which will take place on Saturday, September 14, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., will begin with a mass at the square of the San Francisco Church and will conclude at the imposing Basilica of the National Vow. During this tour, thousands of faithful from all over the world will join to pay homage to the Eucharist, carrying banners and singing religious songs. The journey through the streets of the Historic Center of Quito will stand out for its great devotion and symbolism.

The procession will not only be a manifestation of faith, but also an event that will attract delegations from more than 50 countries. 50 countriesincluding representatives of diverse cultures and traditions. Thousands of people are expected to participate, making this event a celebration of ecclesiastical unity.
