From Nono to La Floresta Route
- Free, General Cost
- Familiar, Self-guided
- All Day
The day begins departing toward Calacalí — a gateway to the stories, communities, and flavors held within the mountains of northwestern Quito.

The first stop is Yunguilla, just an hour from Quito. This community tourism project allows visitors to share in the daily and productive activities of the locals. Here, the experience is not only lived but also tasted: the local gastronomy delights with its authenticity and freshness. (Cost: $7.00 – $30.00)
The journey continues by truck to the Culunco Guantopungo Pelagallo — the access point to the heritage trail. The hike begins through the Culunco, a pre-Inca path that was once part of the Yumbo culture. This ancient route, still alive after centuries, served as a trade corridor linking communities for more than 800 years before the arrival of the Spanish. Walking here feels like stepping back in time and tracing the footsteps of those who came before.
At 12:30 p.m., the experience continues with a communal lunch prepared from locally sourced ingredients — the perfect moment to share food, stories, and laughter with the residents.
The route ends at Casa Agave, a unique space dedicated to this ancestral plant. Here, visitors learn about the agave’s history and its derived products, such as chaguarmishki. The experience includes tastings of agave-based spirits and signature cocktails that blend tradition with innovation. (Cost: $15.00)
